Flowers are lovely Brass Garden Sundial:
A bouquet of welcoming chrysanthemums adorns this beautiful brass sundial. The motto, "Flowers are lovely, love is flowerlike" was written by the 18th century English romantic poet, S.T. Coleridge. The gnomon is an unobtrusive brass rod with finial.

Rome chooses brass for the majority of it's sundial designs because it's a material without compromise. As with bronze, brass is a favored medium by artisans throughout the world. For a moderate price, brass gives us an heirloom quality sundial that we can trust will last for centuries. Naturally non-rusting, brass requires no upkeep. Simply let it age gracefully in the garden where it will, overtime, develop a lovely patina finish.

Most of the brass designs have a two-toned finished with polished brass highlights over a darker patina background. This gives the sundial an aged look with a hint of sparkles from the polished areas.

Frequently Asked Questions.

Do I need a pedestal base?
No, your sundial does not require a base but most people think sundials look best when mounted to a pedestal base. The bases we carry are made for easy mounting of the sundial and come in a variety of styles to compliment your sundial perfectly. If you already have a stable setting for your sundial then you have no worries since this sundial comes with mounting hardware and will easily affix to almost any base you have.

How accurate is this garden sundial?
You can expect less than a 20 minute difference depending on the time of year and where you live. This sundial is designed for latitudes in the U.S.A.

How easy is this garden sundial to set for accurate timekeeping?
Not very hard but it may take a few adjustments to get it right. The first step is to mount your sundial on a flat, stable area with the gnomon (shadow arm) pointing due north. We have found it is easiest to set up your sundial at noon for the best result. Since solar time can vary from "human time" ... you may have to adjust your sundial a few times for the most accurate result.

Are garden sundials easy to care for?
Caring for your garden sundial periodically will keep it looking beautiful and prolong it's useful life.
  • Bronze or Brass Garden Sundials|
If you wish to keep up the original glossy finish on your sundial then you will need to apply a high-quality metal polish periodically to it. Just ask your local hardware store for their recommendations.

If you prefer the weathered green finish which brass or bronze items get after being exposed to the elements.. then just a periodic spraying off of your sundial is all you will need to do.

  • Marble Garden Sundials
We suggest using a gentle detergent and water as to not scratch or wear the marble's surface. Do not use an acidic or abrasive cleanser unless you are posotive it will not damage the sundials. If mold or algea develops, just use a mild bleach solution to kill the mold/algea and then clean normally.

  • Cast Iron Garden Sundials
Most cast iron sundials are painted and/or lacquered to protect the sundail from the elements. Unfortunately, iron naturally rusts and lacquer will wear off so it is recommended to periodically repaint and/or relacquer your sundial. A clear polyurethane lacquer will work or just ask one of the people at your local hardware store for recommendations.
